2013 Highlights and Lowlights

2013 was a big year for me and I had some amazing highlights and tons of learning, coupled with some incredibly low lowlights. I plan on going into more detail about my year in later posts, but for now:
  • Winning my first race at Land Between the Lakes Triathlon in May.
  • Setting a PR at Door County Half Iron, then lowering that PR at Austin 70.3.
  • Huge personal best in FTP test.
  • Working through one of my first real injuries in a long time and having to learn when I need to just listen to my body.
  • Stepping up to the elite wave at local races and finally RACING!
  • Asking for help in nutrition, and actually listening.  Thank you Toro Nutrition.
  • Having one of my best executed bike legs at IMWI.
  • Learning I am allergic to wasps the hard way, via anaphylactic shock shortly into the IMWI run.
  • Coming back stronger from my first DNF and accepting that sometimes, our best laid plans are not meant to be.
  • Setting scary goals reaps the biggest rewards, regardless of whether you actually reach them in the end.
  • I couldn't do anything I do without the unwavering support of my husband.
